2026/05/19

Assessing academic writing – a challenge in large courses! At the next E-learning Roundtable on 24 June, the “LLMentor” project will showcase how AI can help in this area.

How can feedback in large courses be designed consistently and fairly – without overburdening teaching staff? This is the question being addressed by the “LLMentor” project at TU Darmstadt. At the E-Learning Roundtable on 24 June 2026, Dr Thomas Arnold from the Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing (UKP) Lab (opens in new tab) (Department of Computer Science) will present the AI assistance system and report on its practical use in the course “Introduction to Academic Writing”.

The AI developed at TU Darmstadt suggests preliminary scores, justifications and feedback formulations based on transparent assessment criteria. The teaching team always retains the decision to adopt, adapt or reject these suggestions.

At the roundtable, the focus will be on the concept, technical implementation and initial experiences from teaching practice with LLMentor. In addition to the presentation, there will be room for questions, discussion and exchange. – All interested person are warmly welcome!

The roundtable will take place on Wednesday, 24.06.2026 from 3–4 pm online via Zoom.
