Invitation to the E-Learning Roundtable on 1 December 2025 (3:30–5:00 p.m.)

Topic: Virtual Reality Lab for Interdisciplinary Teaching – Implementation in Architecture

2025/11/04

We would like to warmly invite everyone who is interested to our next E-Learning roundtable! This time, we will present the Virtual Reality Lab for Interdisciplinary Teaching at the Department of Architecture. The roundtable will therefore take place on site at the Lichtwiese Campus instead of online as usual.

3D models are increasingly being used as a central component in design and building planning. This applies not only to the field of architecture but also to civil engineering, technical trades, and specialised disciplines within the construction industry. In addition to their traditional use for generating two-dimensional plans (floor plans, elevations, sections, details) and creating renderings, the possibilities for collaborative and interdisciplinary cooperation are becoming increasingly important.

The direct spatial visualisation of three-dimensional models in real time is already possible through Virtual Reality (VR) technology. Providing this technology for use in design teaching within the Department of Architecture is the aim of the “VR Lab” project. With access to modern VR equipment and a low-threshold loan process, the integration of VR within the Department of Architecture is being implemented on a prototype basis.

After successful implementation, the project is intended to serve as a model for other disciplines, thereby enabling a broader adoption of VR across TU Darmstadt.

We invite you to learn more about the current progress of the project during the E-Learning Round Table, visit the loan station, and exchange ideas about the future potential of VR.

Location & Registration

We will meet at Campus Lichtwiese in building L3I01, room R51 (ground floor in the dean's office corridor).

Please register via the registration form on the E-Learning website.
