Invitation to the Digital Coffee Round on November the 8th (3 – 4 p.m.)

Topic: Explainer videos and self-developed software – creation of learning materials according to the constructive alignment principle in civil and environmental engineering

2022/10/31

We would like to invite all who are interested to the next Digital Coffee Round! The Digital Coffee Round takes place within the framework of the project “HessenHub – Network for Digital University Teaching”.

The next Digital Coffee Round will take place on 8 November from 3 – 4 p.m. as part of the project “HessenHub – Network for Digital University Teaching”. For this reason, there will not be a Regulars' E-Learning Table in November.

Pascal Mosler from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the TU Darmstadt is this year's winner of the first Hessian Open Educational Resources Award and will present his project “Explainer videos and self-developed software – creation of learning materials according to the constructive alignment principle in civil and environmental engineering” to the Hessian community at the Digital Coffee Round.

The conception of a new lecture is associated with a lot of effort. When planning the module “Geometric Modelling and Visualisation I” at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the TU Darmstadt, this challenge was seen as a unique opportunity to work out a teaching concept that is holistic and geared to the needs of the students from the very beginning and that equally takes into account and balances all three areas of Constructive Alignment (learning objectives, teaching and learning methods and examination methods). The course deals with geometric basics and construction methods of descriptive geometry. The dualism between analogue and digitally taught construction methods necessitated the creation of different teaching materials. Pascal Mosler and Dimitri Haas give an overview of selected teaching materials and explain their didactic conception and technical implementation. The focus will be on a playlist of explanatory videos published on YouTube, which was awarded this year's HessenHub OER Prize, as well as self-programmed software for students to monitor learning success.

We would like to invite you to the event. You can register via the e-mail address and will then receive a confirmation with the link to the virtual event room. Please note: The inputs will be in German.
