H5P [on the Web]
Web Tool for Creating Interactive Content
All content created on the H5P platform can be embedded via an embed code into any website, content management system, or learning platform, such as Moodle.
The content and applications created with H5P are based on HTML5 and are therefore responsive, enabling user-friendly display on all mobile devices.
H5P now also integrated into Moodle
With the Moodle update 3.9 in September 2020, H5P was also integrated into TU Darmstadt’s Moodle. H5P content can be created and edited via the “Content Bank” in a Moodle course and then added as an H5P activity.
Currently, only a limited range of H5P content types is available.
Possible Uses
Teachers can provide interactive teaching materials alongside the course to encourage students’ active engagement with the learning content. For example:
- Interactive learning videos by adding test questions or additional information to existing video material
- Creating a learning module with the help of an interactive presentation in which, for example, test questions can be answered or videos can be watched
- Interactive timeline with embedded multimedia content
- Interactive maps or images containing additional information in clickable areas
- Test questions presented either in a traditional format (e.g. multiple choice, cloze text, or drag & drop) or in a more playful way (e.g. as a memory game)
Students can also prepare presentations or visualisations for an assignment in a different – interactive – way.
