360° Learning Environments

Panoramic images, such as spherical panoramas, are very suitable for teaching. They offer the possibility of providing insights into real learning spaces, such as laboratories or workshops, and enriching them interactively. Depending on the usage scenario, the 360° learning spaces can be "experienced" on a PC or via VR glasses. All offers and practical examples in this field are developments within the context of the ‘Future Learning Spaces’ project (fuels).

With the help of 360° panoramas, an authentic panoramic view of the surroundings can be achieved.

If the panoramas are enriched with differently formulated media interaction elements, e.g., 360° videos, audios or interactive question formats, it is possible to transform the spherical panoramas into new virtual learning spaces. This results in completely new possibilities for virtual space appropriation, orientation, and exploration in the teaching and learning context.
The basis for this is the didactic concept, the definition of the learning objective and the implementation in a framework action adapted to the use case.

In order to fully utilise the potential of 360° learning scenarios, we offer a comprehensive support and qualification program for instructors to impart both the necessary technical know-how and the corresponding didactic knowledge.

Our workshop offering for the conception and creation of virtual teaching and learning scenarios in 360° is designed to help you implement a very specific project idea. This takes place over the course of three phases:

  1. In-person phase: theoretical input for the didactic conception and development of teaching and learning concepts in the area of 360° as well as practical part for the production of 360° panoramas, insights into appropriate tools for the creation of 360° learning scenarios.
  2. Online self learning phase: with the help of the Moodle course, you can develop and design your own idea as well as deepen the basics of conception, production and workflow.
  3. In-person phase: advice to clarify questions and support in the further conception and implementation of your own 360° project.

The Moodle course offers the opportunity to familiarize yourself independently with the topic of “Creating learning scenarios in 360°.”

Basic knowledge of the media-didactic conception of 360° learning scenarios in a university context is taught, as well as technical knowledge of tools, workflow, and production. Insight will also be given into selected project examples from the “fuels” project from various disciplines.

The course is accessible to TU members via self-enrollment and can be used well in combination with our consultation and workshop offerings.

Regardless of whether it is a more complex scenario such as a serious game or a simpler application, e.g., for orientation with less interaction. We adapt the scope of our support to the project idea, your personal background of experience and the level of autonomy you desire during implementation.
