How can I use videos from a past semester in a current Moodle course?

Perform a Moodle course import:

Import your old Moodle course (with your videos) from the previous semester into your new Moodle course for the current semester. You can find instructions in the Moodle FAQ: Import course(content) . You can also choose to import only specific videos while excluding the rest of the course content.

This saves you the effort of re-embedding the videos in the Moodle course. Additionally, reference copies of the videos are automatically created in the Panopto folder linked to the new Moodle course during the course import.
This ensures that all participants of the new Moodle course automatically receive the appropriate access permissions for the videos according to their role in the Moodle course (teachers, assistants, and tutors receive editing rights, while students receive viewer rights)."

Tip:

We generally recommend the course import if you want to reuse videos that were used in a specific Moodle course in other courses, regardless of whether they are courses from a past or the current semester.

Exception:

If the videos were integrated in the original course via embed code and not as described in the Moodle FAQ: Use own video resources (Panopto) , then reference copies of the videos are not automatically created when the course is imported.
