Creating Guest Access

For people without a TU-ID, guest access with a guest key can be activated. However, this access is read-only, i.e. these persons cannot write entries in a forum, wiki, Etherpad, etc.

If write access is required, a guest TU-ID must be requested for these persons.

To allow people who do not have a TU-ID to access your Moodle course, Moodle offers you the option of creating a guest account with a guest key.

To do this, within a course page, access
the enrolment methods menu through the Participants menu:

Participants (in the above navigation bar) ->
Open the drop-down menu (Enrolled users is displayed first) -> Select enrolment methods.
(see Screenshot 1)

The guest access registration method is activated by clicking on the eye symbol.

If you want to set up an access key for guests, open the Guest Access menu through the gear wheel symbol of the Guest Access enrolment method. First, confirm Allow Guest Access with Yes, then enter a password in the Password field, and finally, click on Save Changes.

Guest Access with Write Access (via Guest TU-ID)

If persons need to have write access to the course as regular participants with the corresponding rights, a guest TU-ID must be applied for. A guest TU-ID can be requested via the IDM portal.

Note: Persons who have a guest TU-ID, can log in to Moodle using the regular login via TU-ID.
