Meta-Enrollment (Course meta link)
Multiple TUCaN courses cannot, by default, share a common Moodle course.
Example: Students attending the same lecture must register in TUCaN for different courses depending on their study program.
Requesting a course via the TUCaN-Moodle interface creates a separate Moodle course for each TUCaN course, with the corresponding students. According to this scenario, students from the same lecture would be organized in different Moodle courses. Lecturers would then have to manage and maintain two (or more) separate courses.
This is where the “Course meta link” enrollment method comes into play.
Step-by-Step Guide
To automatically transfer students from one Moodle course to another, the “Course meta link” can be used.
2. Setting up the Course Meta Link
Within the course you want to transfer the participants in, access the “Participants” menu through the top navigation bar. By selecting “Enrolment Methods” from the drop-down menu, you will see an overview of the available enrollment methods. At the bottom, you can add additional enrollment methods via the drop-down menu. After selecting “Course meta link”, a new page opens where you need to specify the course from which the participants should be transferred. You can choose from all courses you are enrolled in as a teacher.
In the “Course meta link” setup, you can also directly assign participants to a specific group in the course.
Tip: The Course meta link can be used for as many courses as needed. Simply select the additional courses to be added again via the drop-down menu. If you require a group for each course you are enrolling people through, select “Create new group” in each “Course meta link”.
3. Use One Course for Your Class
You can now provide your teaching materials in a central course for your class as usual. Participants are automatically transferred – even during the semester – to your course via the Course meta link.
