Viewing the Course from the Student's Perspective (“Switch Role to…”)

You can use the “switch role to…” function at any time to check what your course looks like for the enrolled students and whether all activities are displayed as you would like them to be.

“Switch role to…” in the user menu

To change your role, simply click on your profile picture and then on “switch role to…” in the menu that opens. Then select “student” to take on the perspective of a student on your course.

Your course will now be presented to you as your students see it.

It will be made clear to you by a banner at the top of the course when you view the course in the student role.

On the other, the role you now have is displayed in the top right-hand corner of the navigation bar to the left of your profile picture.

To switch back to your original role, click on “return to my normal role” in the banner. Alternatively, click on your profile picture and in the menu that then opens, click on “return to my normal role.”

Please note that you cannot use this function to check tests or submissions, as the display in the participant role is not entirely correct for these activities.
